چکیده

Multi-component Seismic Data Gas producers across the Gulf of Mexico are targeting deeper and deeper drilling objectives. Most operators in the Gulf consider 30,000ft to be the deepest target depth that will be drilled for the next few years. To image geology at those depths, seismic reflection data must be acquired with offsets of at least 30,000ft. TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENTS IN NATURAL GAS EXPLORATION, PRODUCTION AND PROCESSING

Multicomponent Seismic Technology Assessment of Fluid-gas Expulsion Geology and Gas-hydrate Systems:Gulf ofMexico

F our-component ocean-bottom-cable (4-COBC) seismic data acquired in deep water across the Gulf of Mexico were used to study near-sea-floor geologic characteristics of fluid-gas expulsion systems. Although these 4-C OBC data were acquired to evaluate oil and gas prospects far below the sea floor, the data have great value for studying near-sea-floor geology. The research results summarized here...

Seismic depth imaging from high to low signal: a case history

The ultimate goal for seismic depth imaging is to find new hydrocarbon prospects or improve existing ones. High quality seismic data and an accurate velocity model are the main drivers for good imaging. Prospects may be identified on seismic data in areas which can range from high to low signal. Roughly speaking, prospects generated for shallow targets will be on good signal data and prospects ...

Identification of Gas Accumulation Adjacent to the Gas Hydrate Bearing Zone by Inversion Utilizing AVO Attribute

The presence of gas hydrate and associated gas in the Makran Accretionary Prism, offshore Iran, has been confirmed by various seismic indicators, including the bottom-simulating reflector (BSR), amplitude blanking, and bright spot. The pre-stack analysis and the study of amplitude-variation-with-offset (AVO) attributes are the most reliable tools for semi-quantitative study of gas hydrate and f...

Detailed Imaging of Deepwater Hydrate Geology With Horizontal Arrays of Seafloor Sensors

This paper describes new procedures for processing data acquired with 4C seismic sensors distributed as horizontal arrays on the seafloor and seismic sources positioned either at the sea surface or on the seafloor. Two types of images can be produced from 4C seismic data: a P-P image and a P-SV (converted-shear) image. For P-P imaging, the large elevation difference between deep-water seafloor ...
